When you invest in eyelash extensions to improve your appearance and confidence levels, you want them to last as long as possible. Different salons and technicians use different methods and products to give you the look you want. Unfortunately, some promise results that do not match up to reality.

Eyelash extensions last only as long as your natural eyelashes do. After all, they are attached to the hairs themselves, and when they fall out, so will the extensions. A better question to ask is how long eyelash extensions should last?

Eyelash’s Natural Lifespan

Just like all the hair on your body, your eyelashes have a growth cycle. New lashes form, emerge, grow, and then fall out. The average is around six weeks.

While faux lashes that glue directly to your eyelid skin can last longer, there is simply no way that extensions can stay put longer than your natural lashes do. Technicians who promise more may not be representing their products or services honestly.

Badly Applied, Clumpy Eyelashes Last Longer

Proper extensions applied correctly attach to just one lash. People who do not know their trade well or who want to cut corners end up gluing extensions to multiple lashes at the same time. This often happens because they use too much glue.

The results look great at first. You look in the mirror and see thick, lush lashes just like the pictures in the salon’s portfolio. These are images of clients’ eyes right after the application, not a month or two later. What really happens with improperly applied extensions?

With too much glue clumping multiple natural lashes together, you may experience a pulling or painful sensation. Your eyelids have very delicate skin, and they are not used to having heavier groups of lashes attached to them.

The extensions last longer because they stick to adjacent hairs when your natural lashes fall out. They shed but get stuck to the ones next to them. You end up with dead hairs, extensions, and live lashes glued together on your face. As the new lashes start to grow, it only adds to the clumpy, uncomfortable effect.

In many cases, you may have to pay extra and go through a long process to have these messed up extensions removed. Only then can you opt for quality products and procedures from a true expert.

How Long Should Eyelash Extensions Last?

The simple answer is “As long as your natural lashes do.” While this is around six weeks for most people, it can take less or more time depending on your personal growth cycle. For those worried about cost over time, remember this. Badly applied extensions will not give you the look you want weeks after you leave the salon. What is the use of paying less for unattractive, uncomfortable service?

For the best results, a well-trained and experienced technician uses quality glues and lashes. They carefully separate natural hairs, apply just enough glue to attach the extension, and then do so. Most of all, they make sure the glue dries properly before adding more to the same lash line. This prevents clumpy eyelashes and other issues.

If you suffer from anxiety, sometimes beauty appointments can be overwhelming. We’ve had many clients over the years who experience anxiety so have strategies and tools in place to help you relax as much as possible during your lash appointment. If you have anxiety about getting eyelash extensions, keep reading on how we’ll make your experience comfortable at The Lash Spa.

Relaxing spa music

Our salon has been designed to calm your mind, body and soul. From the moment you walk in, the relaxing spa music and beautiful scented candles will help you feel at ease. The music continues into our private suites as well. However, if you prefer to listen to your own music or a podcast – feel free to bring your own headphones and pop them in during your appointment. Or if you haven’t brought your own music, you can request for songs with lyrics to be played (if you prefer to have lyrics to shift your focus to).

Spacious private rooms

At The Lash Spa, every client has their treatment in a private luxurious suite. We want your visit to be a treat for yourself so we have created an atmosphere where you’ll feel comfortable. Each suite is spacious and equipped with high ceilings to make you feel super relaxed.

Private Treatment Room Eyelash Extensions

Calming blankets

We offer both light or warm blankets and can tuck you in at your request. However, if you prefer to have no blanket – that’s fine too! Simply select your preference when checking in at our counter.

Detailed consultations

For new clients, we always conduct a one-on-one consultation where we assess your lashes and determine the look you’re after. If you’re anxious, please let our technicians know upfront so they can go into further detail about the process of the appointment so you know exactly what will be happening and you can feel more at ease.

Stress balls or comfort items

We have super cute unicorn stress balls on hand if you need! Otherwise, you’re more than welcome to bring a comfort item of your own – whether it be a water bottle, stress ball or something else personal that helps you feel comfortable.

Eyelash Extensions Anxiety Stress Ball

If you do experience anxiety, please let our friendly team know at the time of booking and we can ensure your experience is a comfortable one. We’ll work with you on what will make you feel most at ease – whether it’s booking you into one of our larger treatment suites or one with the most natural light.

With the above coping mechanisms in place, many of our clients who experience anxiety are able to lay still and relax throughout their appointment. If you don’t feel comfortable during your appointment, you’re of course welcome to leave at any time – simply let our artist know. However, if your appointment has started and you need to leave, we will charge the cost of the treatment (to cover our labour costs and the lost booking) – we hope you can understand. You should never feel uncomfortable at The Lash Spa –  together, we can curate an amazing experience for you tailored to your personal preferences! We hope to welcome you in soon.

EyEnvy has become wildly popular since September of this year when the American manufacturer closed down leaving the remaining stock in Australia as the last stock that will ever be sold.

However, since shutting down the stock in salons has become increasingly difficult to find as they have quickly been bought out by customers. Many salons only had a supply of 10-50 units, and once news spread of the closure those units were snapped up.

Fake EyEnvy on eBay

Previously the Australian EyEnvy distributor was responsible for ensuring that supplies of EyEnvy were only sold by reputable salons around Australia and making sure that stock was not sold online or via marketplaces such as eBay to ensure the legitimacy of stock and give customers confidence that the EyEnvy that they were using was authentic, effective and safe.

However, since the Manufacturer closed the Australian distributor has ceased its tracking of where EyEnvy is being sold since they themselves aren’t distributing it to suppliers any longer. This has led to a massive influx of fake EyEnvy being sold on marketplaces such as eBay and Facebook marketplace at lower than the RRP.

We urge customers to be careful and suspicious when buying through eBay because the wholesale price of EyEnvy previously was $90 for suppliers so when you see it on eBay for $90 (meaning there would be $0 profit in it, and they would in fact be losing money after paying eBay their 10% sales fee) it simply has to be fraudulent products shipped over from China as a cheap knock-off of the real product. The titles and descriptions of the fake EyEnvy we’ve seen always say things like “authentic”, or “brand new in box” etc – and they’re often coming from a very new eBay account with little sales history and very few reviews (since their accounts are regularly getting banned).

The EyEnvy Australian distributor used to spend a large portion of their time getting those accounts selling fake EyEnvy shut down and banned by sending them warning letters from lawyers and even taking it further to actual legal proceedings. But since the distributor has ceased selling the accounts are now springing up.

When you’re ordering on eBay you’re likely getting a whitelabel product from AliBaba which you can see by clicking here – You’ll see that the product costs under $3 and is in our opinion a copy of EyEnvy (even using many of the photos from their marketing materials).

If you’re looking to find EyEnvy we suggest ordering only through reputable beauty salons within Australia. As time goes on there will be less and less stock available through salons, and eventually it will be all sold out, but we would advise never ordering through an eBay seller because even though you may be saving some money, you’re also likely getting a product that’s doing absolutely nothing for your lashes, and could indeed be a product not safe to use around the eye area.

As of the writing of this article, we at The Lash Spa still have some stock of EyEnvy, and it is from the final batch that was shipped to Australia (so is as fresh as is possible).

UPDATE: We’re now all sold out and looking for a good alternative that can compare to the amazing EyEnvy Results

We help our beautiful clients unleash their lash potential, every single day. It brings us so much joy when a client walks out feeling completely relaxed with gorgeous, lush lashes. However, no two lash clients are ever the same! The desired outcome of your lash extensions depends on your natural lashes too. Keep reading to find out how your natural lashes affect your lash extensions.

clean eyelash extensions

There are a number of reasons why your natural lashes can affect how your lash extensions are applied. An experienced lash technician should inspect your natural lashes before any lashes are applied. This consultation will help determine what look they’ll give you during your treatment.

The health of your natural lashes

If your natural lashes are weak, they won’t be able to handle much weight on top – in this case, light lashes will be applied. We apply classics or very fine 3D lashes on our clients who have weaker natural lashes. Alternatively, if your natural lashes are strong and healthy, we can apply heavier lashes for a more voluminous and glamorous effect.

How clean your lashes are

If you’ve visited The Lash Spa, you’ll have heard us talk about the importance of lash aftercare. This is such an incredibly important part of having great lashes. It helps your extensions last longer but most importantly, it protects the health of your natural lashes so they can thrive. You can read about proper lash aftercare here.

How to clean eyelash extensions

The oil content of your natural lashes

Before your lash application, one of our expert lash technicians will inspect your lashes to determine whether they are naturally dry or naturally oily. The application is then tailored to suit each client’s lash conditions. For example, we have different lash primers to target different lash types for optimal retention.

Whether you use a lash serum

Just like your hair, your lashes need to be conditioned too. There are many lash serums on the market to choose from. We recommend EyEnvy Lash Growth Serum because we’ve seen incredible results among dozens of clients who use it. Your lashes will grow longer, fuller and more quickly with EyEnvy. This will ensure your natural lashes remain strong and healthy – so we can apply incredible extensions on top.

And now for the big question, do lash extensions damage your natural lashes?

When applied by a trained technician and correctly, no they do not. At The Lash Spa, we undertake a thorough consultation before every client’s appointment begins – to ensure we are applying lash extensions that your natural lashes can support.

Natural lashes and extensions

The best part? You will enjoy every aspect of your treatment at The Lash Spa. We’ve curated a 5-star experience that we’ve become famous for. From a welcome glass of sparkling or iced tea to sweet treats, luxurious private rooms and complimentary add-ons – you’ll leave us feeling completely relaxed and rejuvenated (and with beautiful lashes!). We look forward to seeing you soon.

The TRUTH – Fact-checked information (December 2022)

UPDATE (Dec 5th 2022): EyEnvy has been discontinued worldwide and we at The Lash Spa sold out shortly after due to high demand. We’re now on the lookout for something that compares

The information below is now a bit outdated but will remain here for informational purposes…

You may have seen some wild articles about Australia’s miracle eyelash growth serum EyEnvy in recent months. As The Lash Spa has been a loyal supplier and stockist of this cult-beauty product for years, simply because of the results we see it having for our clients.

So we sent some questions through to clear up any misconceptions and had a chat on the phone to Australia’s EyEnvy supplier, and as one of their larger sellers, they got back to us right away.

There have been claims the couple that are the Australian distributors threatened to put “worms” in clients’ phones to track their sale of EyEnvy and other odd allegations. We find these claims are unusual and hard to believe. As one of Australia’s biggest EyEnvy stockists, we have found the suppliers to be very professional at all times in our 4 years of trading with them and have never encountered any such behavior – they’re very down-to-Earth people. (We believe these very wild and bizarre claims are being made by people who have been cut off as stockists after not following the terms they agreed to when becoming a stockist. One of these terms is that it cannot be sold via online stores like eBay to stop price cannibalization).

Please do not believe everything you read online! Here’s what we discovered straight from the supplier (as of August 3rd 2022). I am posting this with their permission.

  • The American owners of EyEnvy announced retirement from manufacturing back in January 2022. They ordered batches as part of closing down and checked off with the manufacturing plant in the US that owns the formula. This batch was the last one that we have received in Australia and they are working on getting more, but it may be a long time.
  • In early 2020, some batches which were meant for the US market contained an ingredient that is banned in Australia. But these batches did not actually make it to Australian shores and were sent to Canada. The affected batch only contained 0.004% of a prostaglandin type ingredient. They then instigated a recall on those batches. Remember, we didn’t receive any of those batches in Australia so none of our apply was affected.
  • There isn’t a lash serum in Australia that’s TGA registered because it is not a requirement.
  • EyEnvy has to comply with ACCC who did question the company when they heard about this prostaglandin batch. EyEnvy sent off all the relevant information and no further action is required at this time as it is all fine. It’s safe for use in Australia and won’t be removed from shelves.
  • There is currently a limited supply of EyEnvy on Australian shores and we highly recommend purchasing now while we still have stock (expiry date is 2024). The supply shortage is due to the US manufacturer, nothing happening on our end.
  • Due to the retirement of the American owners of Eyenvy, there may be delays on the next shipment of EyEnvy to Australia and it is looking likely to become a hard product to get. We are not saying this as a scare-tactic, this is the truth as we know it right now.
  • EyEnvy is not taking on any new stockists at this time due to said supply issues.
  • The Lash Spa can confirm that we are in good standing with the Australian suppliers and has secured a supply to last our clientele and phone customers roughly 6 months at our current/usual rate of sale.
  • For the time being, as we do have stock we will still be taking our usual phone and email orders.

We’re now all sold out of EyEnvy.

Is EyEnvy Banned in Australia

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this. If EyEnvy supply does run out we have confidence that the replacement product by the Australian manufacturers will be of the same high quality!

We’re proud of our salon and the services we offer to our beautiful clients. In order to continue providing the same luxury lashes, brows and beauty services that we all know and love, we will have to increase our prices from Monday August 29th 2022.

Many of our services will increase in price by just $5, some by a little more and some will remain exactly the same as they are now.

Why are we rising prices? Over the past 5 years, our costs have risen across the board and now we can no longer absorb them all. We have worked extremely hard to avoid passing on the increased cost of products, freight, electricity, wages, superannuation, rising rents and more. At the same time as the rising costs, we’ve also dramatically improved the quality and experience of our treatments for our beautiful clients – from heated treatment tables and humidity controls to ensure perfect bonding of eyelash extensions.

We always strive to be completely transparent with our loyal clients as to us they feel like family. What won’t change is our dedication to providing the highest quality lashes and brows in the most luxurious lash salon in Australia. We value your ongoing support of The Lash Spa and we look forward to seeing you in the salon soon.

We’re passionate about lashes – especially lash aftercare! While it’s incredibly important to keep your lashes healthy all year round, there are a few key steps for your winter lash extensions. In winter, the temperature drops and there are lower levels of humidity in the air which can lead to dry skin and hair – this affects the growth cycle of your lashes.

Book a fresh set of lash extensions

Lash extensions in Winter

If you’re new to lash extensions, winter is a great season to try them for the first time. Your lashes grow slower in winter so they’ll last a little longer. Or if you’re a regular lasher, you could use this time to remove your current set and apply a new style that you’ve been wanting to try.

Hydrate your lashes

Much like your skin, it’s important to keep your eyelashes hydrated in winter. We highly recommend lash boosting serum Eyenvy which will nourish and condition your lashes. Eyenvy helps your natural lashes reach their fullest potential in length, thickness and strength. You can use it on your brows as well.

Avoid extreme heat

Extreme heat and lash extensions do not mix well. In winter, you may find yourself blow-drying your hair more often or enjoying a night with friends by the fire. Be mindful of how close your face gets to the heat as it’s not great for your lash extensions – or your skin either. The heat can break down the lash adhesive as well as dry out your natural lashes, causing them to fall out prematurely.

Be aware of steam

Much like cosy fires, you may find yourself indulging in warm baths, spas or saunas more in the winter months. It’s more than okay to do this, in fact, we encourage it for self-care! There’s just one thing to keep in mind – when you’re around steam, be careful not to touch or rub your eyes. The steam can soften the adhesive glue on your lash extensions so if you rub your eyes, it may cause the extensions to fall. However, once you’re out of the bath, sauna or hot shower – the adhesive will strengthen again and everything will be back to normal.

Follow a healthy diet

Your diet affects the health of your skin, hair and eyelashes. It’s important to ensure you’re still getting all the vitamins and minerals you need in winter, even when the weather drops and it feels a little harder to stick to a healthy routine.

At The Lash Spa, we’ve added a few additions to keep you cosy and comfortable during your winter appointments. Our luxurious thick foam tables are now heated so we can set it to your optimum temperature. We also have warm blankets and of course, our memory foam pillows. There’s no better season to take things slow and treat yourself than in winter. You can book a treatment via our app or call our salon on (07) 5689 1919.

Now that we’re well into a new season, you may have noticed more lash shedding than you usually have. We’re here to let you know, seasonal lash shedding is completely normal! Twice a year (during Autumn and Spring), our bodies react to the change in temperature and we shed all body hair faster than normal (including lashes!).

On average, you lose three to five lashes each day and in Spring and Autumn, it can be even more. While there’s nothing you can do to stop this natural cyclical shedding, you can stay on top of a few key things to ensure your lashes remain full and fluffy all year round.

More regular infill appointments

Seasonal Lash Shedding

Each lash shedding season lasts about six weeks (one to two lash cycles)  – so you may need more regular infills during this window. If you notice your lashes are shedding faster than normal, stay on top of it by bringing your infill appointment forward. At The Lash Spa, we’ve made this super easy to do via our app or you can simply call our salon and we’ll help you out. If you have noticed extra seasonal lash shedding, be sure to tell your lash artist so they can keep an eye on it too.

Follow your aftercare instructions

Keep on top of your regular aftercare routine, including gently cleansing them every two to three days. When clients notice extra lash shedding, they tend to fear cleansing as they don’t want any extra fallout. However, it’s best practice to keep them cleansed throughout the entire cycle to keep them healthy and for extra longevity. You can read more about proper lash aftercare here

Use a lash boosting serum in your routine

During the changing of the seasons, we highly recommend introducing a lash serum into your routine. Applying a nourishing serum daily will help care for your lashes and strengthen them. We stock the only Australian approved lash growth serum (that actually works) at The Lash Spa. Eyenvy will help boost lash growth, resulting in longer and fuller natural lashes (we also send phone orders the same day with tracking).

lash growth serum for lash shedding

If you are experiencing seasonal lash shed, don’t worry, it won’t last forever! After about six weeks, your lash cycle should start to return to normal. Lash shedding is a natural occurrence that you should be aware of and you can always discuss it with your lash artist if you have any concerns.

It’s important to know about seasonal lash shedding as sometimes the glue or humidity within the salon can be blamed. At The Lash Spa, we have advanced automatic temperature and humidity controls to ensure it’s the perfect environment for optimum lash retention. So if you are noticing extra lash shedding, it’s likely due to the time of year – don’t fret, it’s natural and your lash cycle will return to normal in around six weeks.

Once you live life with luxurious long lashes, it’s hard to go back! The good news is you don’t have to. With the right care, you can maintain the health of your natural lashes while reaping the benefits of beautiful lash extensions. Keep reading for our top 6 tips on how to keep your natural lashes healthy while wearing extensions.

Visit a qualified lash technician

Damage to natural lashes occurs from improper application or when the stylist selects extensions that are too long or heavy for your natural lashes. Before every application, the lash technician should inspect the health of your natural lashes before recommending a suitable style. At The Lash Spa, our Master Lash Stylists have thousands of hours of lashing experience so you’re always in safe hands.

Professional lash artists

Use a lash boosting serum

It’s important to remember that your lashes need just as much TLC as you give your hair. We recommend every client invests in a lash boosting serum to promote hair growth and keep your lashes strong and healthy. At The Lash Spa, we exclusively stock EyEnvy Lash Growth Serum as we’ve seen the incredible results firsthand. You can read more about Eyenvy here.

Eyenvy for keeping natural lashes healthy

Avoid tugging or pulling your extensions

The more you touch, pull or tug on your eyelash extensions – the weaker the bond becomes and the more likely they are to prematurely fall out. When you pull the extensions out early, your natural lash will come with it which can cause damage to your lash line. We recommend using a lash spoolie to gently comb through the lashes regularly. We include one of these lash wands in every client’s welcome goodie bag.

Keep your lashes clean

In order to maintain the health of your natural lashes, it’s extremely important to keep your lashes clean. Wash your lashes regularly with a gentle, oil-free cleanser to ensure there’s no debris build up on your extensions. When it comes to removing makeup, we recommend using a cotton tip around your lash line to ensure you keep them clean but are super gentle while doing so.

Keeping lash extensions clean
Be mindful of how you sleep

If you sleep on your face, side or often move around a lot in your sleep – it’s worth investing in a 3D Lash Contour Sleep Mask. These masks have been specially designed for lash extensions with contours around the eye area to ensure your extensions are protected while you sleep. We also recommend sleeping on a silk pillowcase, as opposed to a cotton one. Most pillowcase fabrics (especially cotton) have stray fibres that can tug at your lashes.

Ensure you follow the correct aftercare

At The Lash Spa, we’re passionate about aftercare and believe it’s one of the most important steps to healthy lashes. There are a few things to keep in mind once your lashes are applied. Make sure you avoid direct contact with water or steam for the first 24 hours. It takes up to 24 hours for the adhesive to properly bond the extension to your natural lash – and early exposure to heat or water can weaken this bond. You can read the rest of our aftercare tips here.

You should never have to forego the health of your lashes to have eyelash extensions. With the right care and attention, you can keep your natural lashes healthy while wearing beautiful lash extensions.

If you’re new to lashes, you’ve likely heard about infills but may not be sure what that involves. Your eyelashes have a natural shedding cycle so as one of your natural lashes falls out, your extension does as well. An infill is a touch-up appointment to refresh your extensions and make them look brand new again. It doesn’t take as long or cost as much as the original set – it simply replaces the lashes that have fallen out over time so that your extensions always look full and fresh. Here’s everything you need to know about lash infill/refill appointments.

Be mindful of your natural lash cycle

Each person’s lash cycle is different so we encourage you to be mindful of your natural lash cycle. We recommend booking infills every 2-3 weeks however, you may be able to wait longer for your infill or may even need to visit us a little sooner. You must have at least 50% of your lash extensions remaining at your infill appointment so we can achieve the full set look again. If you have any less than that, you’ll need an infill plus boost (around 75% of a full set) or if you don’t have any extensions left, you’ll need a full set. When you get to the six-week mark, most of your lashes would have naturally shed (with the extensions attached) so you’ll certainly need a new set.

Be consistent with your bookings

We pride ourselves on exceptional lash application. Our master lash technicians take extra care to glue one extension per healthy natural eyelash. This ensures your lashes remain healthy and last as long as possible. However, we do need you to work with us to keep them looking fresh. One way to do this is to remain consistent with your infill appointments. We encourage clients to see us for an infill every 2-3 weeks to keep them looking fresh and full at all times.

Schedule infills in advance

At The Lash Spa, we’re lucky enough to have many regular clients who visit us every 2-3 weeks. We encourage every client to schedule infill appointments in advance so you never miss out. The easiest way to book is via our app – simply search ‘The Lash Spa’ in your app store or click here if you’re on your phone now. If you can’t find a suitable appointment time or prefer to chat to someone, you can call the salon during business hours and chat with one of our friendly coordinators.

Keep up your aftercare

Everyone sheds lashes daily – with or without lash extensions, you lose around 2-5 lashes per day. One way to ensure they last as long as possible is to take great care of them. Every new client receives a welcome goodie bag which includes our gentle Lash Spa cleanser – use it every 2-3 days to give your lashes a deep clean. You can read more about our aftercare here.

Lash infill aftercare

Whether you’ve booked in for a full set or an infill, every Lash Spa client receives a 5 star experience. You’ll be greeted with a refreshing drink and treat on arrival, guided to your private treatment suite and enjoy a lavender-infused hot towel before your appointment begins. We absolutely adore treating our clients and go above and beyond to make every lash appointment the highlight of their week.
